Margaret L. Powell Millspaugh

FAIRVIEW--Margaret L. (Powell) Millspaugh, of Fairview, NC passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2015 following a long and courageous battle against Progressive Frontal Aphasia. The daughter of the late Ray Powell and Margaret (Marshall) Powell Johnson, she was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend. 
Margaret was born on March 5th, 1946, in Miami, Florida. Teaching children was one of Margaret's great joys. She was an elementary school teacher for 34 years, the last 23 years of which were with Henderson County Schools at Fletcher Elementary. She also greatly enjoyed skiing and traveling with family and friends. 
She is survived by her devoted best friend and husband of 48 years, Dan Millspaugh, a son, Richard Millspaugh, and daughter, Jana Millspaugh; Sisters Bonnie Taylor and husband, Greg Taylor, Jonnie Brisson, and Vicky Bennett; Brother-in law, Bill Merz, who was married to Margaret's oldest sister, Toni, who followed in passing on February 19; Sister-in-law, Patricia Stringer; many nieces and nephews, who will fondly remember her not only as Aunt Margaret, but also as Aunt Butchie; and many friends who were as close as family. She also leaves behind two beloved kitties, Little Bit and Spazzy Cat, who could always make her smile.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 7th at Morris Funeral Home Arden Chapel, 2393 Hendersonville Road. The family will greet relatives and friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in the name of Margaret Millspaugh can be made to Memory Care or the Asheville Humane Society.
