Michael "Mike" Wills

Today (May 25th) was Mike's first day of chemo for his lymphoma. Had a really hard time with it ~ nausea and diarrhea. He came home at 4, walked to the car and then into the house. A short time later I heard a loud noise in the bathroom. He had passed out and hit his head on the tub. I called 911 and they talked me thru CPR. He was gasping for breath when the paramedics arrived. However, he died at the hospital. Obvious I'm in shock. Have only cried when I talk with someone. This is so unimaginable!!! I can't believe he won't be here in the morning. This is so unreal for me. Thank you all for being his friend! ❤

Oh Debbie, my heart is breaking for you. Mike was my first love but I had lost track over the years. This is just so hard to grasp. I've never met you but please know that I send you my love and pray that at some point the wonderful memories will carry you through this and bring you some measure of peace.

Deepest condolences for the Wills  family. Many of us went from elementary school to high school with Mike. Great guy, intelligent and clever. He had an impressive resume which didn't surprise me but was glad for him. Rest well and eternal peace Mike.

I met Mike in the first grade at North Hialeah Elementary. Our mothers were volunteers in Ms. Thomas' class, so we hung out a lot. I went to Flamingo Elementary in the fourth grade but still saw him on occasion. Then to Filer and Hialeah High together. He went to UF, I went to FSU so there was a lot of friendly harrassing back and forth. Summers were spent running around with friends who had cars. I was in his first wedding. After the Army I visited him in California and rode in the Healey before he started his long attempt at restoration and trailered it back to Florida. Mike was blindsided by a divorce but it eventually turned out for the best when he met and married his forever wife and friend, Debbie. He was retired, happily married, had a place in the mountains and his Healey was back together and winning awards at car shows. Life was good. Then a surprise lump under his jaw, a diagnosis of lymphoma, and the damned chemo. I'm sure he was worried and upset but he acted like he was taking it in stride and it was just a bump in the road he needed to get past. I had been communicating with him about the situation and was plannng on driving down from Tallahassee to Dunnellon to see him next month. I kiddingly told him I wanted to see him alive because I can't handle funerals. I wasn't too concerned because it just seemed like something we all have come to expect at our age. Then an early morning message - he was gone. All I have left are seventy years of good memories. Life is not fair. Miss you, Mike.
