Obituary for Leon Kelly Taylor

Leon Kelly Taylor, 68, of Coral Springs, FL passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 28, 2013. Leon was born on January 10, 1945 in Broadway, NC to Leon and Kathleen Taylor. Leon moved to South Florida from North Carolina while he was in middle school. While in high school he met the love of his life Linda Diane (La Bree). They were married in 1965 in Hialeah, FL. Leon began his life-long career with FPL in 1968; after the birth of their two children, William and Lissa, they moved to Coral Springs in 1971. Leon was a man's man. He enjoyed a good cigar with fine scotch and was well-informed with most any subject discussing a variety of topics with expertise. He could diagnose and fix most anything from construction to cars and was helpful with everyone. A favorite pastime was playing cards with his buddies on a weekly basis or watching Nascar races. Leon looked forward to times when he could play with the family dog, Chuee. He and Diane enjoyed many oceanic cruises and traveling to new and different places. Leon is survived by his wife, Diane; his daughter, Lissa Abecasis; and his mother, Kathleen. He also leaves his grandchildren, Jessica Vogler, Jordan Abecasis, Ethan Abecasis and Great Grandson Christian Vogler to cherish his memory. Some called him Kelly, some Leon and others called him LK. Regardless of name he is greatly missed by his friends and family as he leaves a legacy of father, husband, and friend. He was preceded in death by his father, Leon, and his son, William. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Coral Springs Funeral Home, 1420 N. University Drive, Coral Springs, FL 33071.
