Provided by Mike Wills:
I just got word from his sister, through my brother, that Ron (always Ronnie to me) died last night. He had several years of difficulties, particularly related to spinal/ nerve damage & not being able to walk. Last time I talked with him, he indicated he was losing strength & control in one of his arms which would lead to no longer being able to support himself with a walker.
There will be a Celebration of Life for him later in the year. I'll pass along any more information that comes my way.

This is a tough one for me! Too many passings of too many friends! I talked to Ronnie before Covid hit. I knew he was having issues but never expected this! He and Lucy were going to pass through Jacksonville and we had hoped to get together but it never happened. I have such fond memories of him. Our times together while at MDCC. The time he had a crew working in Pensacola while I was in flight school. I always saw him as a "gentle giant." So soft spoken. What a true gentleman. I will miss him! The attached pic was taken while I was home on leave from the USMC. Better times - younger times. Left to Right: Ronnie Schaeffer, Jack Krouskroup and Gene Baker.

Ron and Lucy's first house was a few blocks from my and Bonnies first home in Mirimar. Mirimar was the place where young first home buyers could get a entry level home reasonably. Our homes were blocks apart so our families spent a lot of time together, Ron could do GREAT Bar-B-Que. The years slipped by and the crew drifted apart.
THe "Round-up" is my attempt to bring friends back together. Jack
