Samuel LeRoy "Lee" Shields

Samuel LeRoy Shields, best known as "Lee" to his family and friends passed away on Friday, July 26, 2013 at Southlake Hospital in Clermont, Florida. Lee was born in Miami, Florida on December 6, 1944 to Samuel Asa Shields and Florence (Pendleton) Shields. He married Patsy Marie (Suggs) Shields on December 9, 1966 in Hialeah, Florida. Lee was predeceased by his lovely wife, Patsy Marie (Suggs) Shields who died from Breast Cancer on August 15, 2010. Lee was very proud of his surviving two daughters, Sandra Lee (Shields) Tidwell and Renee Lynn (Shields) Itzkovitz and his two granddaughters, Allison Nicole Crolla and Gabrielle Ariana Itzkovitz. Also, Lee was survived by his two son in-laws Jordan Itzkovitz and Joedy Tidwell. Lee was originally a resident of the South Florida area, where he graduated from Hialeah High School in 1964. He spent many years involved with the Miami and Florida Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps, where he became director in 1975. Lee continued to give many years of dedication and service to drum corps and helping young adults with music into his mid-fifties. After many years in South Florida, he moved to the Central Florida area, where he enjoyed an abundance of time with his family at Walt Disney World. Lee was able to pursue his hobbies aggressively after his retirement from Bell South as a communications manager, which included music, cooking, traveling, Drum and Bugle Corp events and spending time with his family and friends. 

A memorial Service will be held to honor the life of Lee Shields on Saturday, August 3rd, 2013 at Becker Funeral Home, 806 West Minneola Avenue, in downtown Clermont, FL at 10:00 A.M. for viewing and 11:00 A.M . for service. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
